Editing My Images In Photoshop

With my images for my magazine I used Adobe Photoshop to make the images clearer and more expressive. I developed my skills well, and now find Photoshop much easier to use.
I used skills such as Brightness/Contrast so that my image would look clearer and more proffessional towards the audience.
I used the Magic Wand tool to delete any background (of course placing the image on a transparent background at first). This tool allows me to place the image on any background of my choice. As you can see the background of me image is white, which was easy for the Magic Wand tool to delete.
I used a Filter tool to sharpen the edges of my image, as my image wasn't perfectly compatible at first but looked much more impressive once the edges were sharpened.
On my first draft of my magazine, I used the Delete box tool to take bits off of the background to create a newspaper effect around the edges which ended up looking very effective, and suited the genre of my magazine :
